Online training: Advocacy Strategy and Influencing Skills, May-June 2023

This online course introduces participants to the core skills needed to influence powerful stakeholders and policy processes in a range of contexts. It also gives participants a thorough understanding of how to develop and monitor effective advocacy strategies.

The course is articulated in 8 weekly modules, with a combination of seven live sessions (via Zoom) and independent learning activities on INTRAC eLearning platform, which will help consolidate your learning and further explore the topics that are most relevant to you. A critical element of the course is the interaction with other participants and the opportunity to share and learn from each other’s experiences and stories. A one-to-one mentoring session with the course trainer is offered to each participant as part of the course, providing space to work through and identify potential solutions to specific advocacy challenges you are facing or support for getting started if you are new to advocacy.

This training course is particularly relevant to those with some experience in advocacy which they would like to build on, as well as to those who are intending to engage in some form of advocacy in the near future. Participants do not need to have had formal work experience in this area or to have worked in an advocacy/policy role.

Testimonials from previous cohorts:

“I thought I was an expert in the advocacy, but I have just realized that I had gaps through the training. Sharing of experiences was one of the aspects I valued most, it gave me a chance to learn from a pool of experts with who have gained their experience in varied contexts.” (Louis N., Malawi)

“The trainer is hugely experienced, I received a good amount of personal attention and support with my assignments, and the flow of the course makes a lot of sense. I learnt a lot!” (Ronja U., Netherlands)

Deadline for applications: 18 April 2023

Fees: £750 (subject to review in March – apply now to get locked in at the current price). A limited number of Training Access Scholarships is available to participants from the Global South who meet eligibility criteria.
