This introductory session is designed for organisations and changemakers who want to *understand how social movements are built, organised and enabled to take action*. This workshop will be useful for anyone who is aspiring to spark or grow a social movement, or wants to understand how to engage existing movements.
The Movement Building Canvas is a practical framework to help you design your movement for maximum impact. Tested with NGOs, voluntary organisations and start-ups, it can be used at any time to explore movement building ideas and develop practical plans.
*The workshop will cover:* The founding principles of movements: the purpose, experiences and values that movement members share
The journey of your movement members: how they will engage, their actions, and recognition
The infrastructure of your movement: how to organise, communicate and connect with movements. How to identify the resources that movements need to get going and stay moving.
You will leave with a first draft of your Canvas to use with your team, organisation, or coalition.
The session will give you an opportunity to share experiences and test out ideas with other movement builders in a supportive environment. Spaces are limited and they tend to go quickly – so grab your ticket today!

Calling all climate activists, campaigners and pot stirrers who want to have some serious fun!
*In July I’m hosting a few half-day workshops (online or in-person/London) to chew over the state and challenges of climate activism in a different way than usual - with Lego! *
Through an approach called Lego Serious Play, we will playfully disrupt the conversation-as-usual on climate change and think and feel our way through a topic that can polarise, fuel determination and despair, fire up and disengage people all in the same breath. Think of it as a chance for an entertaining and illuminating timeout from your standard climate championing days.
We will explore the context of climate activism and your role within it.
What is working? What isn’t?
What do you need? What ways of thinking, feeling and acting would help?
If the conversation were lighter, but still rooted in reality, how might it be?
I’m interested in whether there is a role for a more playful approach in efforts to halt climate change. Would joy-sparking, creativity-inducing, connection making experiences help people think, feel or act differently than if they were engaged in the way they usually are on climate? Join me to see if I'm right!
We will refresh our kid-like Lego skills and complete a range of building challenges in relation to our topics of discussion. No wild Lego building skills are required :)

Have some time out from the norm that gives you a breather and deep reflection
Consider the pain points of your work or activism and what could help
Chew over how climate change feels, from the irritations to the hopes, frustrations, inspirations and the fears
Gain more understanding of your personal motivations, barriers and beliefs
Explore how you like to play and how playfulness could support climate action
