Hi everyone,
You signed up to this list to get event updates only, except I usually
forget to post them here - so this is a start :-) (FYI: I founded the list
under the FairSay / ECF identity)
With my PostBug.com hat on (as well as my Campaigning Forum one), I'm
kicking off a series of three election-planning discussions on a Zoom call
<https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUuduGsqDwsHtek4dJUmeEN224CBUiqr_…>:
one for EU elections, one for UK elections and one for US elections:
1. Fri Feb 12 *EU* Election discussion: 12:30 CET/ 11:30 UK
2. Tue Feb 27 *UK* Election discussion: 12:30 CET/ 11:30 UK
3. Thu Feb 29: *US* Election discussion: 11:00 EST / 08:00 PST / 16:00
UK / 17:00 CET
*This will be a discussion with all participants able to contribute. So
consider what you can share and what you may wish to ask others.*
I'll kick off each call with a few minutes about PostBug and using printed
postcards (and letters) for campaigning around elections and beyond.
PostBug can now be used worldwide but I am *emphasizing EU, UK, the US* (and
later in the year Canada (elections on or before October 20, 2025) and
Australia (on or before 27 September 2025))
<https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUuduGsqDwsHtek4dJUmeEN224CBUiqr_…>.
My Zoom account is currently limited to 100 person meetings but I will
upgrade if there is more demand.
I look forward to seeing many of you online and discussing election plans
for 2024!
Cheers,
Duane
PS - I will also use it as input for the upcoming Campaigning Forum event
in Oxford, UK March 19-21 <https://fairsay.com/campaigning-forum-2024> -
join us for an in-person discussion!

Hi subscribers to the events-only list :-)
You don't see much from this list, but hopefully quality will more than ma
e up for the quantity as here are three upcoming ECF events between now and
March 2024.
I'm organising a new event: the Campaigning Leadership Forum on Nov 2-3 in
London <https://fairsay.com/campaigning-leadership-forum-2023/> for you and
your peers in senior leadership roles.
There are two steams: one for senior leaders (e.g. CEOs, Directors, Heads
of) and one for Rising leaders (e.g. team managers). You can choose to come
for one day or both. Send a few leaders to have more internal support
post-event.
Recommend it to your boss, peers and junior leaders. See more at:

Cheers,
Duane
------------------------------
New Campaigning Leadership Forum Nov 2-3 in London
After more than 20 years of running the annual Campaigning Forum event,
those early participants have now risen through the ranks and many are in
senior roles. If that is you.
It is time for a new event using the same wonderful format for senior and
rising leaders: the Campaigning Leadership Forum
<https://fairsay.com/campaigning-leadership-forum-2023/>.
There are two main strams: for senior leaders (CEOs, directors, heads of)
and the rising leaders stream for team leaders. With elections on the
horizon and the need for progressive action stronger than ever, this is
where you neet, learn and organise.
Join and spread the word:

Send practitioners to ECF Europe Nov 8-9, Berlin

<http://news.fairsay.com/t/r-l-ttuhhldd-bjuhddimd-p/>
*The reasons keep growing:*
1. *Who's going?*: See the current list of the event participants
<http://news.fairsay.com/t/r-l-ttuhhldd-bjuhddimd-c/>.
2. *Innovation*: The pandemic prevented us from having large group
*in-person
discussions that drive sector innovation* - coming to the Berlin
Campaign Forum brings those back
3. *New world*: We're in a new world from 2019 (the last Berlin ECF
event) and we need to share and strategise, plus EU elections are coming in
June 2024.
4. *Personal resiliance*: it is tough for many working from home. Coming
to ECF events is a* celebration of the work we all do* and a
re-affirmation of its value and that we aren't alone. Many past
participants describe it as therapy.
5. *Networking*: Connecting face-to-face with peers is even more
important now that more of us are working from home. It is a* key factor
in your career developmen*t - so seize the opportunity.
6. *Learning*: At ECF events we learn be sharing - and there is always
more to learn to improve what we do back in our own work. You can *learn
a years worth in just 2 days* - so well worth the time.

*Mar 19-21 2024* is already booked for the Campaigning Forum, Oxford - and
I already have people who have emailed me to get a place!
If you can't make Berlin or London in November, Oxford will be the next
chance for joining an ECF event, so save the date. Applications will open
in November 2023.

Online training: Advocacy Strategy and Influencing Skills, May-June 2023<https://www.intrac.org/event/advocacy-strategy-and-influencing-skills-onlin…>
This online course introduces participants to the core skills needed to influence powerful stakeholders and policy processes in a range of contexts. It also gives participants a thorough understanding of how to develop and monitor effective advocacy strategies.
The course is articulated in 8 weekly modules, with a combination of seven live sessions (via Zoom) and independent learning activities on INTRAC eLearning platform, which will help consolidate your learning and further explore the topics that are most relevant to you. A critical element of the course is the interaction with other participants and the opportunity to share and learn from each other’s experiences and stories. A one-to-one mentoring session with the course trainer is offered to each participant as part of the course, providing space to work through and identify potential solutions to specific advocacy challenges you are facing or support for getting started if you are new to advocacy.
This training course is particularly relevant to those with some experience in advocacy which they would like to build on, as well as to those who are intending to engage in some form of advocacy in the near future. Participants do not need to have had formal work experience in this area or to have worked in an advocacy/policy role.
Testimonials from previous cohorts:
“I thought I was an expert in the advocacy, but I have just realized that I had gaps through the training. Sharing of experiences was one of the aspects I valued most, it gave me a chance to learn from a pool of experts with who have gained their experience in varied contexts.” (Louis N., Malawi)
“The trainer is hugely experienced, I received a good amount of personal attention and support with my assignments, and the flow of the course makes a lot of sense. I learnt a lot!” (Ronja U., Netherlands)
Deadline for applications: 18 April 2023
Fees: £750 (subject to review in March – apply now to get locked in at the current price). A limited number of Training Access Scholarships is available to participants from the Global South who meet eligibility criteria.

Afternoon everyone,
Calling all climate activists, campaigners and pot stirrers who want to have some serious fun!
In July I’m hosting a few half-day workshops (online or in-person/London) to chew over the state and challenges of climate activism in a different way than usual - with Lego!
Through an approach called Lego Serious Play, we will playfully disrupt the conversation-as-usual on climate change and think and feel our way through a topic that can polarise, fuel determination and despair, fire up and disengage people all in the same breath. Think of it as a chance for an entertaining and illuminating timeout from your standard climate championing days.
We will explore the context of climate activism and your role within it.
* What is working? What isn’t?
* What do you need? What ways of thinking, feeling and acting would help?
* If the conversation were lighter, but still rooted in reality, how might it be?
I’m interested in whether there is a role for a more playful approach in efforts to halt climate change. Would joy-sparking, creativity-inducing, connection making experiences help people think, feel or act differently than if they were engaged in the way they usually are on climate? Join me to see if I'm right!
We will refresh our kid-like Lego skills and complete a range of building challenges in relation to our topics of discussion. No wild Lego building skills are required :)
You will…
* Have some time out from the norm that gives you a breather and deep reflection
* Consider the pain points of your work or activism and what could help
* Chew over how climate change feels, from the irritations to the hopes, frustrations, inspirations and the fears
* Gain more understanding of your personal motivations, barriers and beliefs
* Explore how you like to play and how playfulness could support climate action
There is one in-person session in London and two online options where a returnable pack of Lego will be posted in advance. NB: Online sessions are only for people in UK/Western Europe to allow reliable postage time.
Registration for the online sessions closes two weeks beforehand to allow for postage.
IN-PERSON (LONDON) / Thurs 21st July afternoon at Roots & Shoots, Kennington.
